Review — Ghost Stories from the American South

Claire Wohlfarth, 13, Florida
Faces Magazine — 4/1/2007

Ghost fans, you’ve found your book! Ghost Stories from the American South is an expansive collection of stories not just about ghosts but also about other supernatural favorites, such as witches and banshees. This book, which includes more than a hundred stories, is sure to be a winner around the campfire and in the dark when you’re trying to scare friends. The books is divided into eight main sections: “Haunted Houses,” “Other Haunted Places,” “Headless and Other Screaming Ghosts and Revenants,” “Ghosts and Hidden Treasures,” “Traveling Ghosts,” “Malevolent Ghosts,” “Witches, Banshees, Bloodstoppers, Ghostly Lights and Supernatural Creatures,” and “Grave Humor.” The book also includes an introduction, notes, and appendixes, which make it easy to find a favorite story. My favorite section was “Witches, Banshees, Bloodstoppers, Ghostly Lights and Supernatural Creatures.” This section gave the book a twist and set it apart from other ghost story books available.
