Review Go to Sleep, Gecko!
Michigan Reading Journal, Vol. 39, No. 1 09/1/2006

Gecko is having trouble sleeping; the light from the fireflies keeps waking him. Gecko, however, learns that “it takes a village” and that all things are connected when he complains to the village chief, Elephant, and learns the true purpose of fireflies. This whimsical Balinese folktale is perfect for retelling. Geraldo Valerio’s bright acrylic illustrations complement Margaret Read MacDonald’s simple text. (LAB)
