Three August House Titles Receive National Parenting Awards

Atlanta, GA — December 4, 2006

NAPPA, the most comprehensive awards program for Children’s Products and Parenting Resources, has recognized three August House titles for 2006.

The First Music by Dylan Pritchett, the president-elect of the National Association of Black Storytellers received a NAPPA honors Award. This original tale, illustrated by Erin Bennett Banks, weaves a tale that helps everyone discover that we all have music inside us just waiting to come out.

Also receiving a NAPPA Honors Award was Sister Tricksters, by Robert D. San Souci. This book, illustrated by Daniel San Souci, takes a different look at the classic trickster tales and shows us that the "fairer" sex can be just as clever as their male counterparts.

See Rock City, an August House Audio product, written and recorded by Donald Davis received a NAPPA Gold Award. In See Rock City, Davis, one of America’s leading storytellers, takes us on a family vacation that will be very familiar to anyone who has ever taken a cross-country driving trip with a family member who will get to their destination, come what may.

NAPPA's independent panels of judges are experts in their fields with extensive professional experience working with children and parents. They evaluate hundreds of products to select the most fun, appealing, safe, educational, age-appropriate and enduring products so that parents can make the best purchasing choices for their families.
