August House Launches Three New Story Cove Books Simultaneously in Print and Online
Atlanta, GA August 28, 2006
On September 3rd, August House is launching three new Story Cove books simultaneously in print and online with animated stories and in-depth lesson plans. These illustrated stories have been carefully selected from the oral tradition of different cultures and then adapted to actively engage young readers.
The Story Cove Collection now includes 7 titles and is designed for children to actively experience the stories. Each of these new 8" x 8" books is supported by an animated movie version along with activities and lesson plans available at www.storycove.com.
August House is the only publisher that simultaneously releases stories as books and online with animated movies and lesson plans. Each story is supported by multiple-leveled lesson plans using differentiated learning methods to match the national standards defined by NCTE and IRA. In addition, to support the multimedia theme of Story Cove, each of these stories will be performed by the authors in live appearances at schools and libraries throughout the year.
The new Story Cove titles for this fall are:
Have you ever wondered why spiders have no hair? Well, stop wondering, start reading and find out today. After reading this African trickster tale, you will know the answer. The story is told by Bobby and Sherry Norfolk (The Moral of the Story), illustrated by Baird Hoffmire (The Clever Monkey).
This story from Russia about two frogs who learn the truth of that old saying, "It ain't over till it's over." The story is told by Martha Hamilton and Mitch Weiss (The Hidden Feast), illustrated by Tom Wrenn (The Drum).
A colorful retelling of three of Aesop's lesser known, but very powerful fables. The story is told and illustrated by Rob Cleveland and Baird Hoffmire, the author/illustrator team who developed How Tiger Got His Stripes for the Story Cove Collection.
