Zigzag Selected as One of the "Best New Books" by Scholastic Parent & Child Magazine

Zigzag, August House Publishers' newest picture book written by Robert D. San Souci has just been named as one of Scholastic Parent & Child magazine's "Best New Books" in the "Teachers' Picks" section of their October issue.
Just one of six books selected, the highly rated Zigzag was called "touching" by Parent & Child magazine. Created by the all-star author-illustrator team of Robert D. San Souci and illustrator Stefan Czernecki, Zigzag tells the story of a doll who searches for promised love amidst constant rejection. It is acclaimed author Robert D. San Souci's 65th book for children and his first book with August House. It is Czernicki's 31st work for young readers.
Zigzag is one of three new picture books released from August House this month. Another new release, Feathers is popular author Heather Forest's latest work which breathes new life into a cautionary tale about gossip interfering with good intentions. Illustrator Marcia Cutchin worked closely with Forest in sourcing images upon which to base her colorful and lively illustrations depicting Eastern European dress and architecture.
"The Cats are back" in Cool Cats Counting the follow-up to the very successful, Spicy Hot Colors. This bold new picture book provides a vibrant introduction to numbers and animal names in Spanish. Author Sherry Shahan (29 previous books for children) and Ecuadorian illustrator Paula Barragan once again bring Latin American cultural icons and bright colors to the reading and learning experience.
