August House Joins Character Education Partnership (CEP)
Atlanta, GA — July 1, 2005
August House Multimedia Publishers have joined the Character Education Partnership (CEP), it was announced today. The Character Education Partnership (CEP) is a nonpartisan coalition of organizations and individuals dedicated to developing moral character and civic virtue in our nation's youth as one means of creating a more compassionate and responsible society.
August House CEO Steve Floyd commented, "Character education is a hot button for August House. With so many parents and teachers using our books, tapes and CDs educationally, there is a great opportunity to emphasize the elements of our works that can help a reader learn about, if not build, character."

Character education is a national movement encouraging schools to create environments that foster ethical, responsible, and caring young people. It is the intentional, proactive effort by schools, districts, and states to instill in their students important core, ethical values that we all share such as caring, honesty, fairness, responsibility, and respect for self and others.
Effective good character education is comprehensive; it is integrated into all aspect of classroom life, including academic subjects and infused throughout the school day in all areas of the school (playing field, cafeteria, hallways, school busses, etc.). It provides long-term solutions that address moral, ethical, and academic issues that are of growing concern about our society and the safety of our schools.
