Popular Author Robert D. San Souci Comes To August House For The First Time

August House announced today that it will release Zigzag, the first of two exciting new books for young readers by Robert D. San Souci — one of the most popular children's authors in the world — this October. August House CEO, Steve Floyd, made the announcement today at the BEA Book Expo in New York City. August House has partnered with Tradewind Books of Vancouver as the Canadian publisher of Zigzag.

San Souci's latest creative venture, Zigzag delivers the colorful, deeply-satisfying story of a dollmaker who creates Zigzag from scraps. When she promises him "Some child will love you," she gives the strange-looking doll hope. But the other dolls and stuffed animals in the shop don't want such an "unusual" toy around and they force Zigzag to leave. Clinging to that promise — that a child will someday love him — little Zigzag sets out to find a home. Czernecki uses a light, whimsical style to illustrate Zigzag's search for a home.
San Souci is the award-winning author of the Short & Shivery series of tales, as well as many picture books based on folktales from around the world. He has retold numerous traditional tales and legends, including: The Talking Egg, and The Faithful Friend, both of which received Caldecott Honors and Coretta Scott King Honors. His book, Enchanted Tapestry was cited by Publishers Weekly as "a perfect marriage of tale and art."
Award winning illustrator Czernecki has written and illustrated more than 30 books for children, including: the recent award winning picture book from August House, For Sure, For Sure.
