Doug Lipman
A storyteller by profession since 1976, Lipman is the award-winning author of five books, including the August House works Improving Your Storytelling and The Storytelling Coach; fourteen audio recordings; an instructional video, Coaching Storytellers: A Demonstration Workshop; and the monthly Storytelling Workshop in a Box.
In 1996, aware of the potential contribution of storytelling to the corporate world, the Center for Creative Leadership began using Doug as a consultant, trainer of staff, and provider of direct services in storytelling, program design, and coaching.
The collaboration continued several years. In one instance, Doug consulted to the design team for "Global Stewardship," a program aimed at top executives in global corporations. As a result, storytelling became the "glue that held the program together." At the pilot in Geneva, Lipman presented both the storytelling and the coaching components of the program.
Before serving the business community, Lipman began by serving the storytelling and arts communities. He has performed and led storytelling workshops on three continents. As a consultant and trainer, he has worked with (partial list):
- The Center for Creative Leadership (North Carolina and Brussels);
- Jet Propulsion Laboratory (NASA. Ongoing project);
- BP (numerous engagements since 1999 in the U.S. and the U.K.);
- Forrester Research; National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers;
- Mountain States Health Alliance (TN);

His individual clients have worked in the various industries, as general consultants, and in government-- anywhere human beings need to grasp complex problems, make decisions, communicate the results, and enlist people to work together toward common goals.
